Leaving a gift in your will is a very special way of supporting us and indeed 1 in 5 of our patients are cared for thanks to kind gifts.
Leave a Gift in your Will
Leaving a gift in your will, however large or small, can make a real difference. If the time is right for you to remember Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice in your will it can help provide more hours of care and support for local children and young people living with a life-limiting illness. Tragically life will be cut short for the children in our care and providing the best nursing care and support for their families is essential. We also want to ensure that each moment counts, that many precious memories are made and that we squeeze in as much love and laughter as we can. Your gift would have such a positive impact on the lives of these families when they need it most.
Local man Dominic Sinclair McMahon was one of those who supported our work. He had always admired and supported the work of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice in particular. Whilst he never had a family of his own, he grew up as one of ten, and always loved being surrounded by his brothers and sisters. His sister Margaret told us how inspired he was by our service and how he wanted to make a difference in whatever way he could.
Dominic’s wish was fulfilled when he donated an incredible gift in his will of £28,600 to Children’s Hospice. Thanks to his amazing generosity, we were able to fund a specialist children’s nurse for a year to care for life-limited children.
At Hospice we are indebted to Dominic, and so many others, for thinking of us in this way. His wonderful gift has had such a positive impact on many children and young people province wide, allowing us to continue to care for them and their families.
We have produced a Legacy Tree sculpture as a meaningful way to acknowledge our gratitude to those who have kindly included a gift to us in their will. Every year their names are engraved onto the leaves of this Legacy Tree sculpture and an invitation is extended for their loved ones to view it. We appreciate how personal gifts in wills are. With this in mind consent is always requested prior to adding names to this tree.
Every March we hold a “Make a Will Month” campaign. During this time local participating solicitors waive their professional will writing fee and clients are invited to make a discretionary donation to us. This year’s campaign raised over £12,000 enabling us to provide vital hospice care to many patients. If you participate in “Make a Will Month” there is no obligation to leave a charitable gift to us and all information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
A gift in your will, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference to local children, young people and their families. It is incredible to think that your gift will greatly impact families we haven’t yet met or children who haven’t even been born.
