Another way to support our work is by making a donation to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice in memory of your loved one.
This is a very meaningful way to commemorate their life while helping us to provide specialist nursing care and support over 300 local children and young people each year.
Request donations in lieu of flowers at your loved one's funeral
Long after floral tributes have withered, donations in lieu of funeral flowers can continue making a real difference to the lives of our patients and their families. We can appreciate that this is a particularly difficult time for you but if you wish to do this your Funeral Director will oversee this process on your behalf.
The average cost of a floral tribute is £30 which could fund one hour of specialist hospice care for a local child or young person.
Set up a Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice Tribute Fund
A Tribute Fund is a really special way of supporting Children’s Hospice and also of keeping the memory of your loved one alive. You can make donations on special occasions such as a birthday or anniversary, by setting up a direct debit, creating a fundraising page online to share with family and friends or by organising a fundraising event.
When your Tribute fund has reached £1,000 a plaque with your loved one’s name will be placed on a butterfly sculpture in the Woodland Trust’s Monkstown Wood and you will be invited to a special Remembrance Service in the spring during which a tree will be planted.
Jordan Beattie received vital care from Children’s Hospice before he sadly passed away at just 14 years old. His Mum Janine Beattie decided to set up a Tribute Fund to commemorate Jordan whilst raising vital funds for other local families.
“I know from first- hand experience the incredible difference Children’s Hospice makes to a family who need it. In fact, I have some of the most precious memories a Mum could have at Jordan’s end of life care. When he deteriorated and we moved to Horizon House I was blown away with everything they did for us all as a family. Remembering the times I spent with Jordan at Horizon House always fills my heart and mind with the biggest smile ever.
It comforts me greatly to know that the money we raise through Jordan’s Tribute Fund will transform the lives of other local children, young people and their families at such a vulnerable time”.
The Northern Ireland Hospice Book of Remembrance
Our Book of Remembrance is a beautifully presented handmade book in which your loved one's name can be entered providing a lasting tribute to them. Each day it is opened at the appropriate date. It can bring a little comfort to view the book on special occasions such as a loved one's birthday or anniversary.
Hospice care is free to those who need it but we have to raise over £2.5million each year to provide this service. As demand for hospice care continues to grow your support is needed more than ever.
