ASHFIELD BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL PREPARE TO COLOUR DASH
Ashfield Boys’ High School are delighted to announce that their first ever Colour Dash event will take place on Friday April 7th 2017.
Staff and pupils of the local Belfast High School will be taking place in this special event to raise vital funds for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and Aundrea Bannatyne whose son is in YEAR 11 at Ashfield Boys’ High School. Aundrea was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer during the summer of 2016 and will be able to travel to Germany to receive pioneering treatment which in effect, will give her a longer life expectancy with the money raised.
Speaking at the event launch, school principal, Mr McColgan, explained that the school was overwhelmed by the support for their Colour Dash event and wanted to thank the extended school family for the generosity and support. He said:
“The dedication of the staff and pupils who have organised this event has been outstanding and we are all looking forward to our first event Colour Dash within the school. We are delighted to be fundraising for Aundrea and the Children’s Hospice through this event and are hoping to raise as much as we can to support them”.
Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice provides respite and end of life care to 300 life-limited children and their families each year.NI Children’s Hospice provides, essential, specialist nursing care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions either in the child’s own home or at one of our purpose built hospices in Newtownabbey or Enniskillen.
Care provided by NI Children’s Hospice is free to families; however, it costs approximately £3.5million to run the specialist service each year. The Children’s Hospice receives limited statutory funding, in the region of £1.2million which means £2.3milion needs to come from donations and fundraising.
Michael Nugent, Community Fundraiser for NI Children’s Hospice added: “We are so thankful that Ashfield Boys’ High School has chosen to support our charity through their event. This event really puts the fun into fundraising and we wish them every success as they prepare for their Colour Dash”.
