If you require more information about our upcoming abseil challenges, we've put together a full list of FAQ's below!
How much do I need to raise?
- We kindly ask that each raises a minimum of £100 for NI Hospice. We’re here to help with your fundraising and are there for support every step of the way. Your registration fee helps cover the cost of putting on the event and is therefore non-refundable and non-transferable. However, if the abseil cannot go ahead due to adverse weather conditions, we will look to offer a new date and a refund will be offered.
Is there an age limit?
- The minimum age to take part in the challenge is 16 years old. For under 16’s the medical consent form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. If an individual has not completed a consent form they will not be permitted to take part.
Is there a height limit?
- No.
Is there a weight restriction?
- With regards to weight restrictions, Bryson Energy (LaganSports) abseil equipment is rated to cover someone with 16” – 49” waist. Therefore if the participant fits into these parameters they are welcome to participate.
Are there any general health requirements?
- You are responsible for your own medical condition and enter at your own risk. NI Hospice will not accept liability for any injury or loss as a result of your participation. You must seek medical advice from your GP if you’re in any doubt as to your physical ability to participate in the event, and you must also fill out the health questionnaire, which we will send one week prior to the event, truthfully so that the abseil leaders are fully aware of any conditions and can discuss with you if you’re unsure.
What should I wear?
- Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather conditions. Fancy dress is permitted in certain circumstances. However, all outfits must not be loose/baggy so that they will get caught in the abseil equipment and cause a safety issue.
