Lauren Doherty, Head of Commercial Marketing & Support at Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice said: “The dragon boat race was the idea of one of our fundraisers and it is now one of the most successful events in our fundraising calendar.
“Early indications are that around £45,000 is expected to have been raised this year and all of it will be going to our Children’s Hospice which cares for over 300 children and their families each year.
“We would just like to say thank you to all of those teams that took part, to all of the people that came out to cheer on the boats and indeed to all of our volunteers who gave up their time to make sure this event ran smoothly. Without this generosity and goodwill, we wouldn’t be able to help the people that need our services.”
John McCall, from Conveyortek said: “Northern Ireland Hospice is a charity that everyone hopes they will never need support from but in reality, so many families in Northern Ireland do find themselves depending on their services.
“The Dragon Boat race is the perfect social event for us as it encourages team building and gives our staff the opportunity to mix outside of the office, but most importantly it gives us the chance to show our ongoing support for this fantastic charity. We had the most fantastic day and training preparations for 2020 will be getting underway next week!”
