Iceland begins new corporate partnership with Children’s Hospice

NI Children’s Hospice is to receive a fundraising boost as retail group Iceland Foods Northern Ireland has announced a new corporate partnership with the local charity.

Staff in Iceland stores will be raising funds during a week-long series of activities starting on September 24th across its 35 Iceland stores and 2 Food Warehouses, to support Children’s Hospice’s mission of providing specialist palliative care for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses and complex needs.

Kelly Roulston, Corporate Fundraiser at NI Hospice, said: “A huge and heartfelt thanks to our partner Iceland Foods Northern Ireland and to everyone taking part across the country in so many amazing fundraising events. Your generous support for NI Children’s Hospice will enable us to continue providing our specialist palliative care to babies, infants, children, and their families.”

Ron Metcalfe, Managing Director at Iceland Foods Northern Ireland, commented: “We are delighted to partner with the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. These pivotal services bring much-needed empathy and compassion into the lives of children and families in our community. We are thrilled to be fundraising for Horizon House across our 37 stores.”

Tasked with fundraising in their respective stores, Iceland Foods NI colleagues have planned various events to help raise as much money as possible. From five-a-side football games to in-store bake sales, the Iceland team is determined to make an impact.

A combined donation of £2,718.50 could provide funding for 48 hours of dedicated care for a child in the Children's In-Patient Unit, covering Horizon House and their home; while a donation of £4,166.47 could cover the expenses for seven days of specialised palliative care within the 18-bed In-Patient Unit, ensuring comfort and support for those in need.

NI Hospice Children’s is the only service of its kind in Northern Ireland. Its services include specialist nursing care at home, supported short breaks at the In-Patient Unit at Horizon House, end-of-life care and family and bereavement support. Hospice also works in partnership with the NHS to support parents with an antenatal care service, Tiny Horizons.
