NI Health Committee members visit NI Hospice

Today we welcomed members of Northern Ireland Health Committee, Diane Dodds MLA and Alan Robinson MLA, who visited the Adults’ In patient Unit at Somerton Road.

Their visit formed part of the Committee’s recently-announced ‘Review of access to palliative care services,’ the aims of which are to understand of the current provision of palliative and hospice care; find out more about the challenges in the provision of, and access to, this type of care; and learn more about excellence in palliative and hospice care by identifying examples of best practice.

Pictured below, at the end of the visit, are Dr Matt Dore, Palliative Care Consultant; Alan Robinson MLA; Dr Gerry Millar MBE, Chair of Trustees; Gemma Aspinall, Acting Director & Head of Adults’ Services; Diane Dodds MLA; Trevor McCartney, CEO; Dr Claire White, Consultant in Palliative Medicine; and Chair Elect of Trustees, Ian Sheppard.

The Committee plans to visit the Children’s Hospice in the near future.
