Ready, Set, Ho Ho Go! Santa brings the NI Hospice Festive 5k to town!

Northern Ireland Hospice’s Festive 5k run returns on Sunday 1st December at V36, The Valley Park in Newtownabbey, bringing a sleigh-load of festive fun for everyone!

With over 700 runners, families, and friends expected, this joyful event kicks off the holiday season while raising vital funds for local palliative care services, as part of the charity’s Festive Hearts for Hospice fundraising campaign.

The event is not just about the run – it’s a day filled with Christmas magic! Enjoy festive tunes from U105, Santa’s Grotto, inflatables for the kids, and delicious treats from Parkgate Farm. Plus, the Kids’ 1k Reindeer Dash promises smiles as little ones – and parents! – dash to the finish in their antlers.

Prizes await the top finishers, and don’t forget to bring your most creative Christmas costume for a chance to win the Best Dressed competition!

Launching the early bird registration for the event, Lauren Doherty, Interim Director of Commercial and Brand Development at NI Hospice, said: “We’re overjoyed to bring back the Festive 5k this year. It’s such a special day, full of laughter and fun, where families, friends, and the whole community come together to celebrate and support the Hospice. The funds raised are so important, helping us continue providing the care that so many families depend on. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed in their festive best and ready to make this year’s event extra special!

“We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Antrim and Newtownabbey Council for their support and to Ashdale Engineering, who are sponsoring our 1K Reindeer Dash for this year! We are hugely grateful to them and the local community for their invaluable assistance.”

Councillor Neil Kelly, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to partner with Northern Ireland Hospice for the Festive 5k. It’s such a heart-warming way to celebrate the holiday season while supporting the incredible work the Hospice does for families across Northern Ireland. We’re proud to play our part in this wonderful event.”

Colin Simms, Operations Director, Ashdale Engineering Ltd, said: “The Reindeer Dash is such a fun way for kids and all the family to get involved and support NI Hospice.
