The Lagan Seahorses Choir, one of Belfast’s top male voice choirs, has raised £2,000 for Northern Ireland Hospice by committee members donating their monthly choir subscription fee to the Hospice.

The Lagan Seahorses Choir, one of Belfast’s top male voice choirs, has raised £2,000 for Northern Ireland Hospice by committee members donating their monthly choir subscription fee to the Hospice.

The choir, which is made up of 50 local businessmen from a range of industry sectors across Northern Ireland, have been avid supporters of the Hospice, having previously raised £3,000 last year through a special concert, which was held at The Waterfront Hall.

Noel Brady, Lagan Seahorses committee member, said: “When COVID-19 restrictions forced the Choir to cancel physical choir practices, members decided that their monthly subscriptions should be donated to the Northern Ireland Hospice.

“Members wanted their subscriptions donated to an organisation that was fully engaged in the COVID-19 crisis, and the Hospice was an obvious selection for us.  Times are tough right now for charities, so we would encourage other groups to consider donating fees collected to help the Hospice continue to care for local people who need it most at this time.

Mary McCall, Director at Northern Ireland Hospice, said: “Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we’ve been inspired by the generosity and compassion of the local community who have supported us in our time of need. These are difficult times for everyone at the moment, both financially and practically, and we’re so grateful for the Lagan Seahorses Choir choosing to support us in this innovative way”.
